When I make a painting I’m trying to create something beautiful and absorbing to look at, something to make your eyes dance and take your mind away from the world for a moment. I’m committed to non-representational imagery, concerned mostly with colour, shape and light harmonies. When I’m working on them they are totally abstract but I’m aware that the viewer will, naturally and inevitably, assign images and context to them. I’ve always been fascinated by what people see in my paintings.
