Covid-19

Northern Light Theatre appreciates the support of our patrons in celebrating the arts community and live performances during this uncertain time. As our community prepare to re-open live performance venues, NLT is working on a set of protocols to ensure the safety of our patrons, artists and staff.

CoVID-19 Protocol for NLT

NLT will comply with all Chief Medical Officer of Health (CMOH) protocols and guidelines to ensure the safety of NLT staff, volunteers and patrons. This compliance will require changes to our normal operating procedures.

All individuals involved with NLT will be expected to comply with the new safety protocols. If anyone is unable to comply with the new protocols, they will be asked to leave.

Please note: Contact information will be gathered with each ticket purchase. If anyone who attends a performance then tests positive for CoVID-19, this information will be given to AH Public Health Officers for contact tracing.

To ensure the safety of all NLT staff, volunteers, and patrons, please complete the AHS CoVID-19 self-screening questionnaire prior to attending. If you feel unwell, or have travelled in the past 14 days or have been exposed to CoVID-19, please do not attend.

General Guidance Principles:

In response to Chief Medical Officer of Health (CMOH) orders, the NLT Board will:

  • Provide procedures for rapid response if an attendee, staff or volunteer develops symptoms of an illness.
  • Comply with CoVID-19 General Relaunch Guidance and with COVID-19 Guidance for Live Music, Dance and Theatre
  • Implement practices to minimize the risk of transmission of infection amongst attendees, performers, production crew and front of house.
  • Ensure that attendees and venues maintain high levels of sanitation and personal hygiene.
  • Form a cohort between individuals who require frequent close contact and sharing of items I.e., performers and/or performers and the production team.

Procedures for Rapid Response to Symptoms

  • If an individual shows or develops symptoms while at the NLT office, rehearsal space or during a performance, the following steps will be taken.
    • If an individual develops mild symptoms (ie. stuffy nose, low grade fever)

      • If transportation home is required, NLT will arrange to have someone drive them home or arrange a taxi. Any vehicle used must be cleaned and disinfected after use.
      • Once the Individual has left the space, all surfaces must be cleaned and disinfected.
      • Inform all other staff, volunteers or patrons that they may have been exposed to someone infected with COVID-19 and inform them of the need to self-monitor and ask them to call AHS if they become symptomatic.
    • If an individual becomes seriously ill (ie.  severe shortness of breath or changes in the level of consciousness)
      • Isolate unwell person in a separate room, if possible
      • Continue wearing a mask and maintaining 2 metre distance from all others.
      • Call 911 and advise dispatch that the person is showing signs of CoVID-19 infection
      • If someone remains with the symptomatic person, they will be required to wear full PPE including mask, gloves and eye covering.
      • Inform all other staff, volunteers or patrons that they may have been exposed to someone infected with COVID-19 and inform them of the need to self-monitor and ask them to call AHS if they become symptomatic.
