BATTLE FOR THE LIMELIGHT
24 Teams, 30 Pit Stops
It’s going to be an “amazing” race!

The Battle for the Limelight is nearly here. With the support of the OSBA, this year’s race has the involvement of 30 local Old Strathcona business. Their names and the challenges set up for this year’s race must remain Top Secret until race day on September 9th. We are absolutely bursting to tell you about these great business and the wonderful people who run and manage them.   The Battle for the Limelight event would not be possible without their support.  All will be posted on our website next week at www.northernlighttheatre.com.  Please consider them for your patronage.

THANKS TO YOU WE HAVE REACHED OUR FUNDRAISING GOAL FOR BATTLE!

NLT has reached our fundraising goal of $10,000.00 for this campaign!  And donations are still coming in!!  (Our season goal through our various fundraising events is $50,000.00 and  donations for the Battle for the Limelight are accepted year round.)   All donations to NLT receive a charitable tax receipt, with the funds going directly towards Northern Light Theatre’s artistic programming in 2017-2018. THANK YOU to our generous donors!

Battle for the Limelight

BATTLE FOR THE LIMELIGHT
ONLY 10 MORE VOLUNTEERS NEEDED

With over 20 teams competing this year, we are still seeking more volunteers for our event to help ensure the event goes well. It takes many hands to go into Battle – we are looking for an army of volunteers. Each Pit Stop requires two volunteers to wrangle teams and judge challenges. If you’re not able to run the race, but want to support those that do, call 780-471-1586 to volunteer! A bounty of gifts and prizes are shared with the volunteers and all are welcome to attend the BBQ and celebrate with the victors.

Grindstone Theatre

Grindstone Theatre was formed in the fall of 2011 by Artistic Director, Byron Martin, to create new late night content at the Varscona Theatre. Grindstone's flagship show, The 11 O'clock Number! The Improvised Musical, debuted January 11th, 2012 and ran every second week for its first season. After a well received initial season and following an Edmonton Fringe Festival run, the improvised musical began its second season turning to a weekly format. The show has now toured to the Winnipeg Fringe Festival and the New York Musical Improv Festival as well as a sold out run at the 2014 Edmonton Fringe Festival. Currently in its third season, The 11 O'clock Number! continues to attract attention for its unique form of musical comedy entertainment.

Founded in 2012, SkirtsAfire Festival is a 4 day multidisciplinary arts festival that EMPOWERS, DEVELOPS, SUPPORTS AND SHOWCASES WOMEN-IDENTIFIED ARTISTS. In conjunction with International Women's Day, our festival runs each March at various venues in the heart of Alberta Avenue, an area that is reinventing itself as an Arts and Dining district in Edmonton. Leading up to and during the festival each year, we produce a Mainstage play for a 10 day run.
