BATTLE FOR THE LIMELIGHT
NLT VS NLT

What’s more fun than a little friendly office competition? Northern Light Theatre will be running two teams in the race and each one thinks they will win the prize of top fundraiser. Artistic Director Trevor Schmidt is backing The Fire and Fury led by Nina Lawrence, while Artistic Associate Catherine Wenschlag is convinced her team of choice – the Aurora BoreUsNoneUs led by Rebecca Bissonnette – will reign supreme. Each team is actively training for the event, walking the streets of Whyte Ave, solving random puzzles, and eating odd foods to prepare for whatever the race organizers throw at them!

BATTLE FOR THE LIMELIGHT
VOLUNTEERS NEEDED

With over 20 teams competing this year, we are now seeking a strong team of volunteers to help ensure the event goes well. It takes many hands to go into Battle – we are looking for an army of volunteers. Each Pit Stop requires two volunteers to wrangle teams and judge challenges. If you’re not able to run the race, but want to support those that do, please volunteer! A bounty of gifts and prizes are shared with the volunteers and all are welcome to attend the post-race BBQ celebration.

THE WORLD OF
“DO THIS IN MEMORY OF ME”

1962 Montreal

Genevieve`s world is informed by three main things: religion, science and hockey. In the 1962-63 season the Montreal Canadiens came in 3rd place in the NHL – they would go on to win the Stanley Cup in the 1963-64 season, and Gordie Howe would take over the spot of NHL career goal leader with 545. Pope Paul VI succeeded Pope John XXIII, and the Supreme Court ruled against Bible reading/prayers in public schools. In popular media, the Beatles released their first album: “Please, Please Me,” and Cleopatra starring Elizabeth Taylor premiered. Politically, Martin Luther King Jr. delivered his “I have a dream” speech and John F Kennedy was assassinated. And far above the world, the first woman, Valentina Vladimirovna Tereshkova, went into outer space as pilot of Vostok 6.

“Do This in Memory of Me” by Cat Walsh runs March 13-24, 2018 at La Cité Francophone.

FRINGE LOOKING FOR VOLUNTEERS

The Edmonton International Fringe Festival is right around the corner, and they are looking for some additional volunteers to help on our Fringe Ambassador and Information Services teams. These teams are critical to making Fringe the best experience it can be for newcomers to the site, and are the face of the organization. They also help support the Fringe by selling program guides and 50/50 raffle tickets.
